I’m still not tired of this colour combo ...

009

Waltzingmouse Christmas Tag Challenge

I’m still on my quest to complete my Christmas Tags and a one I’ve made today could be entered into the Waltzingmouse Christmas Tag Challenge.

009

I’ve used a fabulous 2011 Heirloom Ornaments die cut (the largest), sponged in white, stamped with WMS Text-It and snowflakes from PTI Tag Its #8 in whisper white and real red.  The small feature label is stamped with one of WMS 2011 Holiday Ornaments stamps and the sentiment is from PTIs Holiday Button Bits. The ribbon is stampin up ruffle ribbon coloured with red copic marker.

013

I’m loving this look, just a little vintagey … I’ve a fair few of these on the go.

My new hobby

The reason I’m not paper-crafting as much, and rarely posting now … I even struggle to keep up with the blog hopping I used to do (for hours on end)

010

That although it doesn’t look like it was my second attempt at crocheting (btw its a scarf, but doesn’t it look pretty all rolled up like that)

008 009

I can make one of these babies up now in 2/3 evenings.

013

015

018

017

I’ve just learnt how to make flowers! I love the flowers – and so simple ...

007

In between those (and there have been a few more scarves in other colours) I’m crocheting a Babette blanket, which is 100s of granny squares in varying sizes.

I got the inspiration to give crocheting a go from KatieJane (Am I a dreamer), just seeing and reading about her creations and how quickly they were appearing on her blog – I just had to give it a go!

I really can’t tell you how rewarding it is to see something grow so quickly and to know you’ve created it – If you haven’t yet discovered crochet and fancy giving it a go, you only need to start with one hook and a ball of wool. There are loads of tutorials online, but I’d recommend Crochet Geek, her tutorials are amazingly easy to follow.

Red & White

Red and White seems to be my Christmas theme this year, I think almost every card I’ve created has been based around these colours.

I am a traditional girl, my tree is red and gold … the ornaments not the tree :O) and it just doesn’t feel right using colours other than the red, green, white, gold, silver ...

With that in mind I’ve made a start on my tags

003

What do you think? I recon once I get a bit of an assembly line going I could get a few of these made, I might change a few elements now and then

005

These tags are made of nearly all Papertrey ingredients I think it was just the ribbon (SU) and bakers twine (stash) which weren't.

And yes, that is my tree – its actually been up for over a week already ... I Love Christmas and my tree.

I’ll upload some pictures later this week of the tree and I’ll be back tomorrow with some pictures of the real reason why I haven’t been posting for a while ... my new hobby, just for Katiejane:O)

Butterflies and bling

Sorry I've been so quiet, its been a combination of illness and not enough time to get crafty :(

I'm back now with a card I've made for a friend who loves both butterflies and bling! As soon as I saw this picture created by Fiona Duthie I knew I had to recreate it on a smaller scale as a birthday card for Jo.

Cardstock:PTI stampers select and All the Stampin Up colours from the subtle, brights and regals collections
Embellishments: Basic rhinestones
Tools: Big Shot, Stampin Up sizzix embosslet folder, tombow liquid glue, glue dots

I can't believe how well it turned out - so good I really didn't want to give it away ...

I really do have to make another, either this scale or the larger ... for myself!!!

DT Inspiration Challenge

The A Passion for Papertrey’s Design Team Inspiration challenge

The challenge is to find a card from one of the members of the design team and let it inspire you.  I didn’t have much time to play, so CASed Lisa’s Johnsons’ card from this months release.

004

I haven’t change much, turned the card on its side so its landscape. I cut seven equal sized squares (I didn’t have a punch the right size), heat embossed one of the flowers from Peace Poinsettia, one to each of the squares. I then added a little bit of sparkle to each using stardust stickles. The greeting is from Signature Greetings and is stamped in Pure Poppy, I added two lines across the bottom of the card, finally punched the corner with a corner rounder.

005

It’s a great little card for using up those little bits of cardstock we all save!

First Christmas Card

And another CASE, This card by Nichole Heady was so beautiful I knew I had to recreate it in someway, shape or form.  My photos don’t do it any justice the colours are not coming out on my screen the same IRL.  The card is beautiful (I think so anyway).  Nichol is a genius.

005

Stamps: Harvest Berries, Peaceful Poinsettia
Cardstock: SU Real Red
Designer Paper: SU DSP Patterns Stack: Subtles, Certainly Celery
Mediums: Versamark,  SU Real Red & Old olive

008

I love the dimension these blooms give to the card.

This is probably my last submission to Anything Goes over on A Passion for Papertrey, unless I manage another hour or so (or should that read ‘afternoon’, what's left of it) in the craft room ;O)  Thank you ladies for a great fortnight of crafting.

Felt iPhone CASE

While pursuing Pinterest Wednesday evening I came across this creation and knew I had to recreate it, believe me its been a few years since I threaded a needle and then it was for cross-stitch where you get to follow a pattern! So this is full of mistakes, but I still love it

006

I used some of my PTI felt, which I have to admit to having owned for a little while and never cut into until last night. It is beautiful to work with!

008

My case, really isn’t as professionally finished as Kara’s (there’s a few more pictures on her blog here) but with a few lessons I can see this could get addictive.

Oh and if the picture didn't give it away, its another entry into A Passion for Papertrey's Anything Goes ;O)

Bitty Baby

While tiding my cardstock today I came across my pile of clear acrylic, I usually only get this out around Christmas time so I challenged myself to make a card I can use today.  I need to make several cards in the next few weeks one of which is a new baby card (a commission)

011

Stamps: Bitty Baby Blessings, Polka Dot Basics II, Birthday Bash Sentiments
Cardstock: Stampers Select White, Aqua Mist, Spring Moss, Lemon Tart
Designer Paper: Polka Dot Parade
Mediums: Black Onyx Versafine, Versamark,
Embellishments: Rustic jute button twine
Tools: SU 1/4”, 3/4” 1/2”, 1”  circle, scallop edge border and curly label extra large punches, paper snips.

005

008

Its also another card I can enter onto A Passion for Papertrey’s ‘Anything Goes’ challenge – remember it only takes one Papertrey item on your project and you can enter :O)

Purple Posy.

Another CASE, again from one of Monica’s beautiful cards.  As soon as I saw it I knew I had to get my stamps out and get inky ...

001

Stamps: Medallion, Curly Cute
Cardstock: Basic Grey, River Rock
Designer Paper: Perfect Plum and So Saffron from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Patterns Stack
Mediums: Versamark, Black Onyx Versafine
Embellishments: Basic rhinestones coloured with purple copic marker pen, PTI Plum Pudding Saddle Stitch Ribbon, Leaf stem punched from Two step bird extra large punch,
Tools: 3/4” circle punch, Stamp-a-ma-jig, PTI Beautiful Blooms II #1 Die Collection, Martha Stewart Arch Lattice punch

As you can see, I didn’t change much from Monica’s original design, but turning the design on its side and using different contrast colours made a different card

004

I love this colour combination, and I have Monica to thank for that, I would never have started with Basic Grey and River Rock, but don’t they look fantastic with my favourite purple (perfect plum/plum pudding)!

Butterfly CASE

Danielle made this card for her boyfriends mum, with just a little help from her mum :O), its a CASE of a CASE, Danielle saw the original that Monica sent me, loved it and wanted to make something similar for ‘Gill’

Danielle chose Gill’s favourite colours, Red, Silver and Black - which I have to admit I was quite scared of ...

014

Why was I scared? They’re the colours in my front room … but they’re SO BOLD … they look FANTASTIC!!!

Stamps: Butterfly from Strength & Hope
Cardstock: Basic Black, Real Red, Whisper White
Mediums: Real Red, Basic Grey, Silver from stash
Embellishments: Real Red ribbon, basic pearls coloured with red copic marker pen, basic rhinestones
Tools: Button coloured with red copic marker pen

I showed Dannii how to cut a square card from A4 cardstock, then we selected some grey DSP from the Stampin Up neutrals paperstack. Dannii then had the brainwave of using a silver stamp pad in the embossing folder – It looks fantastic IRL!

019

I love this shot ... those butterflies are just gorgeous!

Alpha CASE

I’ve had my daughter home for a few days and she had a small list of cards she needed ...

So while we had the Alpha Blocks out we/she CASed one of my cards to make this card for her boyfriends dad

009

Stamps: PTI – Alpha blocks, Birthday Bash Sentiments, Father Knows Best
Cardstock: SU Early Espresso, Soft Suede, various coloured scraps
Mediums: SU Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip, Versamark, inks one shade on from coloured scraps (I forgot to make a note!)
Tools: Dimensionals, PTI alpha blocks die

011

And this is another one I/we can enter onto the APFP challenge 'Anything Goes'

Back tomorrow with the card she made for her boyfriends mum, I helped a little with the technique but its mostly all her work. Which card do you think she CASEd?

Tuesday 23 August 2011

Anything Goes!

I was hoping to get this card posted for the challenge on APFP last week, but didn’t get round to it! But luckily it still fits the challenge for this week – Anything Goes!! I mean, literally … Anything goes, so you can upload anything over the next fortnight just so long as it has a PTI product on it :O)

I made this card for my daughter’s boyfriend, I wanted something simple – he’s really not into whimsical at all. Hope he likes it!

006

Stamps: PTI – Alpha blocks, Star from Banner Builder stamp set
Cardstock: SU Not quite navy, bordering blue
Mediums: SU Bordering blue, Versamark
Embellishments: SU brad from Hodgepodge hardware, bakers twine
Tools: Dimensionals, PTI alpha blocks die

I have to admit I’m pretty pleased with it, it is exactly how I imaged it. I know I will be using this design again.
